Otaniemi Underground Broadcasting System started out as a cable channel in the Helsinki University of Technology’s Student Union’s lineup in 1983. With the change to Aalto University, OUBS became Aalto University Student Union’s, AYY’s, cable channel.<\/p>\n
During its peak, OUBS was broadcast in Teekkarikyl\u00e4’s cable network as well as online, reaching world-wide audiences. OUBS was run by a group of seven students living in a shared flat in J\u00e4mer\u00e4ntaival 1 A’s basement floor, where the studio and editing facilities were located.<\/p>\n
OUBS was abolished by AYY on the 31st of May, 2011, and Ylioppilasmedia Aate was\u00a0founded as a replacement. Aate ran its operations for a little over a year, before it was discontinued as well. Currently, OUBS ry is continuing from where OUBS left off.<\/p>\n
