Audio
Equipment and connections
The PA system with the standard rental of the studio consists of two Behringer Truth B2031A speakers, located together with the projector screen on the north wall of the studio. The audio sent to the speakers is sent through the Alesis multimix 12r mixer installed at the southeast corner of the studio. The inputs available to the mixer are
- A long aux-cable with a 3.5mm audio jack, long enough to reach the north wall of the studio.
- Two XLR-inputs underneath the mixer, labeled “MIC 1” and “MIC 2”
There are also two XLR-cables and two TBone microphones located in the drawer labeled “MIKROFONIT” under the mixer.
Step-by-step instructions
- Turn power on with “MAIN POWER EXCL. SPEAKERS” switch
- Turn speakers on with “Small speakers power switch” on left side of the screen on the north wall of the studio
- Use audio mixer to adjust audio volume, channels:

- 11/12 Aux 3,5mm (red cable)
- Adjust maser channel
- Adjust volumes to taste

Image
Equipment and connections
The device for displaying images is the BENQ video projector mounted to the ceiling at the middle of the studio (controller to the projector is hanging from a white string at the southeast corner of the studio). The image transmitted to this is routed through the Lightware AV switcher supporting 4 input sources and 4 output destinations.
Available inputs are via one of two HDMI-cables (adapters to USB-C and DisplayPort also available) or via the chromecast device connected to the studio wifi. These inputs are numbered as indicated in the simplified instructions below. The output number 1 of the Lightware AV switcher corresponds to the HDMI-input 1 of the BENQ projector.
Simplified Instructions
- Turn on the Video Projector with remote (HDMI-1 in projector)
- Select destination 1 from the lower row of numbers
- Select desired input from the upper row of numbers, inputs:
- HDMI, short 3m
- HDMI, long 10m
- Chromecast
- Signal from FoH
Studio Lights
Equipment and connections
Large amounts of lighting, mostly white LEDs of various temperatures are mounted to the studio ceiling. THE CONNECTIONS TO THE LIGHTS ARE NOT TO BE ADJUSTED IN ANY WAY WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION FROM A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF OUBS. If adjusting the orientations of the lights, they must be returned to the original orientation at the end of the rental.
The power to the lights is run through separate fuses to the rest of the power of the studio. Therefore, they must be powered up from separate switches, whose location is specified in the simplified instructions below.
After powering up the lights, they can be controlled separately from the AKAI MIDIMIX midi-controller at the southeast corner of the room. The midi-controller has a master slider connected to all of the lights, 24 rotating knobs controlling the white LEDs and 8 individual sliders controlling the colored LEDs. A detailed map of the studio lights is yet to be made, but a rough corresponce is as follows:
- The top row of 8 knobs controls the lights for the main stage (north wall of the studio, with the projector screen)
- The middle row of 8 knobs controls the lights for the lights for the greenscreen wall (east wall of the studio)
- The bottom row of 8 knobs controls lights related to both walls as well as the vintage LED bulbs.
- The 8 single-channel sliders control colored LEDs on three walls of the studio (these have complex combinations between slider positions and colors, just try things out until you find a setting you like).
Simplified instructions
- Locate the separate switchboard at the northwest corner of the studio and turn on the three switches labeled “valojen käyttökytkimet”
- Locate the midi-controller at the southeast corner of the studio and slide up the master slider.
- Adjust the various knobs and sliders to create a lighting situation you like.
- When leaving, turn everything to zero on the midi-controller and turn the three switches labeled “valojen käyttökytkimet” to the off-position
